About Me

Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Welcome to "Cogknitive images" photography, where Holly Coggin and Kristi Knitter work as a team to create keepsakes that are a reflection of each individual. We believe that a photography session should be as fun for you as it is for us! Therefore, we generally use you as our guide. It is our goal to capture you doing things you enjoy with the ones you love. We hope you enjoy this sampling of our recent work and please consider us for your future photography needs.

About What We Do

When you are shopping for photography services, we encourage you to look around closely and ask questions of photographers.  Look over a collection of their work and know exactly what you will get for your fees.  Some photographers include cd's with their pricing while others have the client order prints from them.  We think lab printing is extra special and offer our clients incentives to print with their high resolution cd's.  Think about how you want to use your pictures before you commit to a photographer.

Check for editing closely.  Edits are HUGE to what a photographer offers.  If a photographer has edits that are showing "blowouts" and harsh colors and skin tones, that could simply be their "style."  However, styles come and go.  For a timeless look, you will want true colors that capture all the details.

Here's an example:

SOOO-This is a straight out of camera (SOOC) shot that we would take a peek at.  There are lots and lots of options for how to "dress" this sweet guy up for client viewing.
This edit is overexposed.  While it is in fashion by some photographers now, it leaves lots of details to the imagination.  You can't see the buttons on his shirt!  While an artsy edit is great to include in a collection for a client purchasing a cd, this is definitely not what an entire shoot should look like.
This is the final edit we sent out to our client.  True color and all the details in tact!  The print is sharp without being overly sharpened.  His eyes look real-not like a space alien (It is one of the many temptations as you edit ;)

The time spent during a session is really just a very small part of the service you pay the photographers to perform.  Also, photography fees are charged for using professional equipment and the photographers' time and talent. Of course, you notice that the session should be comfortable and special in some way.  Doing the "same" shoots for each client becomes too routine and predictable.  We try to tailor each session to the wishes of the client and to match their style.  We want to put a creative "Cogknitive" spin on each session, too, but let the client lead so their pictures are uniquely their own.  Little man C in this picture is sitting on a quilt that his great grandmother made-see, special!

Your photographer should come prepared with a variety of lenses, cameras, flashes, diffusers, etc. as part of every shoot.  They won't normally use everything they bring, but they always come prepared.  They should have suggestions for settings and appropriate "looks" to match the age, interests, and personalities of the clients too.

Pictures should also be ready for your viewing in a timely manner.  One acquaintance lamented that she went with a "friend" for a wedding photographer only to receive pictures 8 months after the wedding.  She wasn't thrilled with the quality even after that :(

If you have questions about our work or pricing, please let us know.  We are releasing new session prices soon and hope they reflect the level of service we deliver our clients.  We developed our business to try and help people have beautiful pictures at an affordable cost and are committed to continue that mission.  Thanks to all our very wonderful clients.  You make this venture really, really fun for us!
